So Much to Say!

January 24, 2006

The past two months have brought us more joy from our little guy than we could have ever imagined! Christmas was such a blessing. We spent Christmas Eve at Nannie Lou’s with over 30 members of the Wright Family. Alex got to meet some of his relatives from Ohio that he hadn’t met yet. His cousin Bryan played with him almost all day. We ate, talked, and opened presents. Alex was mesmerized by the patterns on all the wrapping paper. It truly was a great time.

We spent Christmas day with the Hastings Family. After his big day on Christmas Eve the little guy was pretty tired, so he only made it long enough to open a few presents and then woke up hours later to witness the annual Hastings Boccee Ball and Croquet Christmas Tournament.

January brought with it an array of new things for Alex. He’s pretty much mastered rolling over, and the days of leaving him in a room alone for a few minutes are long gone. Yesterday, I found him on the fireplace hearth. His newest trick is scooting on the floor. Last night, I watched him scoot over to his train so that he could then reach out to stop it in its track. He has started to realize that he can make all sorts of strange noises with his mouth. Some days he'll just go on and on chatting with himself or anyone who wants to listen. Sadly, he suffers from a case of stage freight, because once you place a phone in front of him - total silence. He loves going on the swings at the park, feeding the ducks, and going down the slide. We tried starting him on cereal as he tipped the scales at 18 pounds 12 ounces at his 4 month appointment (and now has hit the big 20). Unfortunately, he had a horrible allergic reaction so we’re in the process of trying to get that all straightened out.

Our latest outing, took us to the Georgia Aquarium two times this past weekend. We first went on Sunday and Alex absolutely loved it. When rain was in the forecast all of Monday, and Paul had taken the day off, we headed back! It was amazing to watch Alex gaze up at all the fish. His favorites were the Beluga Whales, the shark tank, and all the fish at the coral reef exhibit. We look forward to visiting again many times this year.
